CAREER AS AN OFFICER
10% of the Foreign Legion officers initially served as legionaires, then as non-commissionned officers.

Promotions are granted according to merit. All legionnaires can pursue a career, not on the basis of school degrees or professional degrees obtained as civilians, but based on technical or military examinations passed during their successive contracts.

  • All non-commissioned officers in the Foreign Legion begin their career as ordinary legionnaires.
  • Training staff: 1 non-commissioned officer for 4 legionnaires.
  • Out of 4 legionnaires recruited today, one will eventually become a non-commissioned officer.
